Aquila chrysaetos

Golden Eagle

Steinadler

Being a great hunter, the Golden Eagle seldom eats carrion. Although capable of killing large prey such as cranes, wild ungulates, and domestic lifestock, the raptor subsists primarily on rabbits, hares, ground squirrels, and prairie dogs. The hunting territory of the Golden Eagle extends up to 260 square km. Malheur County, Oregon, USA
